Push Biking

On Tuesday, we got some bikes and headed down the esplanade to see the sights and ultimately have lunch at a spot called the Currumbin Beach Vikings Supporters Club. From the map above we started at Surfers Paradise and went South to Currumbin, about 13 miles. No big deal, right? 13 miles? But try it on a broke-down hired single-speed bike... It was hard. The picture below is from Miami Beach.

The big draw to having lunch at the Currumbin Surf Club is that it was built directly adjacent to Elephant Rock, a massive rock island that juts off the shoreline in Currumbin. So after lunch we walked to the top of the rock for some great views all the way up Gold Coast!

Towards the end of our bike adventures a cloud started tailing us home and by the time we got back to Surfers it was pretty nasty outside. We got some macadamia nut pesto from the store downstairs and had some fabulous pasta on the patio while it all blew through.

More funny things Aussies do:
  • Pimp out their hatchback cars
  • Like Britney, Miley and Twilight (sorry)
  • Girls wear (only): denim shorts, leggings & fluffy short skirts
Number of times Kevin has used the windshield wipers instead of the blinker (due to backwards cars): 50+

Old man in Speedo count: 6
